Tango - Foster Dog

Meet Tango, Avie's first foster friend. Tango is a foster with the Rocky Mountain Lab Rescue. They are a wonderful organization helping save Lab/Lab mixes from shelters. You can learn more about them here: Rocky Mountain Lab Rescue. They are always in need of more foster parents, and they have some cute Labs up for adoption. :)

When we first picked up Tango it was heartbreaking. Tango didn't want to come out and cowered behind a crate. The scene brought tears to my eyes. According to the rescue Tango came from, he was picked up as a stray and ended up in a local pound. When rescued, he was thin and covered in ticks. It's sad that such a sweet dog was found as a stray. When we finally got him out he was glued to me. I could tell instantly that he was a boy that needed a lot of love. It took him a little time to relax in the car for the ride home, but when he did, we started to see a little smile.

He is so incredibly loving. He just wants to be loved on and give some love in return.

When Avie and Tango first met, Avie wasn't nearly as excited as I imagined. She sniffed him out and then ignored him. Poor Tango.

Here's our sweet Avie, off by herself watching. I think she's trying to figure out what just happened.

Sweet, sweet boy. He's perfectly content just sitting close to me.

His first walk with his foster pack. He does pretty good on a leash. Occasionally pulls but nothing like our crazy Lab.

The light bulb just went off! Suddenly Avie realized she had a friend to play with. It was hilarious. Tango was happy to take part in some playtime. Turns out our submissive dog is the alpha too! I didn't know she had it in her. Even as the alpha dog, Avie plays nice which is great for Tango. It also shows just how submissive sweet Tango is considering this is an alpha first for Avie.

Avie decided to show off her 'duck butt' move. She sticks her butt in and runs while also adding in some crazy circle moves. She is very talented and thinking of taking her fancy moves to Broadway.

Tango is still learning what's okay to chew on and what isn't, but does great when what he wants to chew is quickly replaced with a chew toy or bone.

And he's out. Tango had very long day and is ready for a goodnight sleep in a safe place.
